It’s the time of year for sure, but getting the super benefits from eating raw veggies and fruits has increased ten fold of late around our home. One of the incredible benefits of living where we do in SoCal, is that on everyday but Monday, there is a farmer’s market within twenty minutes of our driveway. Of course, the Saturday farmer’s market in Vista, CA doesn’t sprawl over several blocks like Santa Monica’s, (more…)
Part of retirement is enjoying the fruits of your long life of labor.
Taking a Cruise is a wonderful way to see the world and enjoy your retirement. There are many cruise lines all over the world and there are cruises of various length as well. With the cost of gasoline these days, there are more and more people looking at less expensive ways to travel and still see the sights you have always dreamed of.
CRUISES VS. CAR VACATIONS
Planning a trip or vacation can be the best part for many of us. It’s about the anticipation that Ms. Carly Simon sang so beautifully about some years back. The chances to see places you have only seen in pictures, or movies, or that others have told you about, we just can’t wait. Hopefully, you had the chance to have some vacation highlights on some family trips, but it is in retirement that flexibility and opportunity come together so the retirement lifestyle can become the retirement adventure.
Then the day of the trip arrives and you are stuffing the car, finding the Mapquest printouts, and trying to stay on schedule. After hours of “wind shield time”, you arrive late to the hotel after fermenting in a traffic jam, only to find that valet parking is backed up too. Bellmen don’t listen, lines are long at even VIP check-in and you are just plain tired. It is at this point that you realize,

Last week I posted a review of Christopher Buckley's recent satirical novel, Boomsday
. In the review I mentioned that I have been seeing a number of angery blog and forum rants from the Gen X and Y folks targeting "old people" and the Baby Boom generation. As a followup I want to share a segment from a recent letter to the editor from the North County Times newspaper.
Boomers will ultimately pay
If we were to suffer the economic pains of our choices now, would we be so willing to go into debt? How moral is it to enjoy our tax cuts, spend our economic stimulus checks and then hand out a massive $10 trillion debt to future generations, making them feel the pain we should have endured.
As baby boomers fade away and generations X and Y rise up to take the reins of power, they would have every right to eliminate all benefits for the boomer generation, including Social Security and Medicare, in order to pay for the financial mess we caused.

How mad the Gen X and Y folks are I can't be certain, but here's one Baby boomer who's mad at Boomers too.
Have you stopped to ponder whether we are on the doorstep of generational warfare? I have noted of late, that there are an increasing number of posts in the blog-sphere by Generation Y, 20 somethings who seem to be mad as hell at “Old People.”
A fair number of the posts are rants about older drivers with a “get out of the way” theme. In some cases, there is a “get out of the way of society” slant to the post rather than just a “get off the road” theme. Beyond the road rage, there are a number of messages that view Baby Boomers as “Not the Greatest Generation.” Boomers are portrayed as

Why do people even want to start over again dating? Whether they are recovering from a nasty divorce, following a long period of time since the death of their spouse or just not ever having found that special person; they are ready to have a close relationship with another person. It's so hard to find someone special enough to make a move. It's hard enough to even accept your first date let alone start a new life with someone special. Dating is a game that can involve good times and bad times. The thing about love is that it involves risk. The excitement of love is what we need in our lives.

I recently wrote an article entitled "The 5 Best Reasons to be Outdoors" and "Grilling" was number three. I'll provide a link later so you can find out what the other four reasons covered. I operate on the theory that just about any food can be prepared on a gas grill. Yes, I am
